"10 Secrets of the Master Prospectors!"
By Rod Nichols

Everyone who enters network marketing would like to make some money. Some would like to make BIG money. The key to making money is to become a Master Prospector. Here are 10 secrets to help you accomplish this goal:

1. Master Prospectors Don't Sit on Their Assets

The Master Prospector (MP) jumps into action. He/she doesn't sit around waiting for their sponsor to train them or to build their business for them. MP's quickly review all the training materials, make a make a plan, and then go for it.

Yes, they make mistakes, but they learn from them and go on. They concentrate all their working hours on priority activities such as prospecting, presenting, follow-up, sponsoring, training, and support.

2. Master Prospectors Are Consistently Consistent

They contact new people every day. They follow-up every day. They work with their downline every day. It may only be for a few minutes, but they do it every day. They treat their business like a REAL business, by giving it the time it deserves.

3. Master Prospectors Know What Their Job Is and Isn't

MP's don't confuse activity with productivity. It's easy to be active in network marketing - organizing your desk, creating a filing system, writing letters and phone scripts, re-writing your prospect list, etc. MP's know that the only way they are going to make money is if they prospect, sponsor, and work with their people, so that's where they focus their efforts. MP's are also manage their time well. They know how to get the most out of every minute of free time.

4. Master Prospectors Know What to Marry

They have a strong purpose (why?) for their business and a good set of goals based on their purpose. They are committed to their company, products, upline, and to the network marketing industry itself. In a way they marry their company and upline.

5. Master Prospectors Have a Magical Genie

You know the old story - walking along the beach, find an old bottle, rub the bottle, and out comes the genie. The genie gives you 3 wishes. Here are the 3 wishes of an MP: First, they ask for the magic of vision - to be able to see into the future. They then pass this vision on to the people they are prospecting and training. Second, they ask for the magic of rapport - so that they can know what to do to instantly create rapport with any person they meet. Third, they ask for the magic of communications - so they can be a master communicator, whether in person, to groups, or via written mediums.

6. Master Prospectors Love to Build Bridges

MP's focus on making friends, not making money. Kalench calls it "friendshipping." It's going out looking for friends who you would like to have in your business. Set a goal to make a million friends, instead of a million dollars and you will go very far in network marketing.

7. Master Prospectors Use More Than a Pick and Shovel

Network marketing is like a goldmine. The gold is there, all you have to do is get the tools and use them. MP's know the tools they have available and how to best use them. Get to know your company's tools - video tapes, cassettes, brochures, internet, fax-on-demand, teleconferencing, etc. Your company pays you to advertise, so use those tools to do so. Quit looking at the beautiful gold, jump in their and start digging.

8. Master Prospectors Value Time More Than Money

Time is a limited resource. Everyone gets the same 24 hours and once they are gone, they are gone forever! MP's use their time wisely. They know how to use the tools to leverage their time. For instance, if you were working 15 hours a week, but had 100 of your company's video tapes out to prospects at all time, you would have 100 salespeople out doing presentations for you. MP's also find opportunity in every situation. Use the back to school nights, sports events, parties, company functions, etc. to create opportunities to prospect people.

9. Master Prospectors Know That Every Business Needs An S.O.B.

No, it's not what you think. An S.O.B. is a Statement of Benefit. You will have many times when people ask you what you do for a living, or what's knew. You must be prepared with your S.O.B. Mine is I help people learn how to make money while they sleep. Make up your own S.O.B. and make sure you are ready the next time some asks.

10. Master Prospectors Don't Like to Cut Down Trees

They would rather do a little trimming instead. The average network marketer talks too much and doesn't listen enough. God gave us 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. MP's are excellent at asking questions and listening carefully for clues. They also don't bury the prospect with literature and information. Instead they ask key questions and they provide only the information that will be of interest to the prospect.
